Kepler Challenge 1 December 2012 Te AnauThis challenging mountain running event follows the 60km Kepler Track over snow capped mountains and past stunning blue lakes of Fiordland National Park. Organised by a voluntary committee with the support, on race day, of approximately 200 Te Anau residents, this event has a truly "community" feel.

Spectacular Mountain Races
The Kepler Challenge mountain run follows the 60 km Kepler Track through the Fiordland National Park, part of the South Westland World Heritage Area. It has been held annually since 1988 and draws competitors from throughout New Zealand and around the world. It's sister race, the 27 km Luxmore Grunt is held on the first section of the Kepler Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks. Both races offer stunning views & scenery, excellent tracks & a chance for competitors to challenge themselves to the max! |

The Weekend Programme
The Kepler Challenge weekend event starts on Friday with check-in, race pack collection & a pre-race safety briefing at the Real Journeys Community Events Centre, Te Anau. Saturday sees all competitors check-in again at the race start & finish line and the race begins. Sunday has the event breakfast & prize giving.
Entries open "online" on the first Saturday in July each year and fill up quickly with space limited to 400 competitors in the Kepler Challenge & 150 competitors in the Luxmore Grunt. |

Te Anau & Fiordland National Park
The scenic lakeside town of Te Anau is approximately 2 hours drive from Queenstown or Invercargill. An excellent base for the many activities on offer in the Fiordland region including day tours to Milford & Doubtful Sounds, scenic flights in either a floatplane or helicopter, fishing, leisurely cruises on the lake, jetboat rides on the Waiau River, horse treks and quad bike rides. Lots of options for tramping & hiking on the many walking tracks in the area including the renowned Milford Track. |
